Tamil Nadu is taking a decisive step toward becoming a leader in advanced textile manufacturing with the launch of the Tamil Nadu Technical Textiles Mission (T3 Mission), introduced under the State Budget 2025–26. Designed to promote high-value textile production, attract investments, and enhance export potential, the initiative reflects the state’s strategic shift toward innovation-driven growth. Supported by a dedicated Project Management Team and a panel of technical experts, the mission provides comprehensive assistance to enterprises across the project lifecycle from concept development to commissioning enabling both new and existing players to explore opportunities in the rapidly expanding technical textiles sector.
In its initial phase, the government conducted outreach programmes across major textile hubs such as Tirupur, Karur, Madurai, and Salem, generating strong industry interest and encouraging manufacturers to diversify into technical textiles. Building on this momentum, the second phase introduces financial incentives, offering support of up to 50% of technical assistance costs, capped at ₹50 lakh per unit. This milestone-based funding approach ensures transparency while easing financial constraints for businesses.
To further strengthen global competitiveness, Tamil Nadu is facilitating international exposure through participation in events like Techtextil Frankfurt 2026, where selected entrepreneurs will gain insights into emerging technologies and global trends. Additionally, the mission is promoting joint ventures with international players, particularly from Taiwan, in segments such as nonwovens, activewear, and footwear. With strong policy backing, growing industry participation, and a clear focus on innovation, the T3 Mission is poised to transform Tamil Nadu into a key hub for technical textiles, driving sustainable growth and reinforcing India’s position in the global textile landscape.
